For the first time in its history, TEI hosted the 75th Annual Conference completely virtually. With fifty sessions, fifty-seven sponsors (including ten new or returning firms), and 200 speakers, the conference offered attendees a full range of tax technical and networking opportunities.
Topics covered included a presidential election preview, Brexit, GILTI/FDII planning, professional ethics, and tax automation. Many of the sessions addressed the implications of COVID-19 and the CARES Act.
The virtual platform allowed TEI to invite speakers from around the globe and several government agencies, including:
- European Commission
- Internal Revenue Service
- Multistate Tax Commission
- Canada Revenue Agency
- Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development
- Department of Finance Canada
In addition, attendees had many opportunities to network with peers and practitioners from exhibiting firms.
Although we hope to host the 2021 Midyear Conference in person in Washington, D.C., we know we have a great backup option in our virtual platform!
