Earlier this year, BDO published the findings of its 2022 BDO Tax Outlook Survey, which aimed to gather data surrounding tax departments’ planning strategies, biggest concerns, and tax technology, among other topics. The good news is that the vast majority—seventy-two percent—of survey respondents said their tax departments were thriving, and only twenty-eight percent said they were either surviving or struggling. As certain world events, such as the war in Ukraine, have slowed movement toward tax policy change globally, it may also be true that some goals and priorities have shifted. Nevertheless, the findings presented below from the BDO survey report present tax executives with the following question: Have your department’s priorities changed as the second half of 2022 kicks into full swing?
