The San Francisco TEI Chapter held two annual events this past February. The first event was the Annual Volunteer Income Tax Preparation Day. Eight chapter members volunteered their time and tax knowledge at the Bayview Hunter’s Point YMCA to assist low-income families with their individual income tax returns. Each volunteer was able to assist one or two families with their returns. The San Francisco Chapter intends to continue offering this vital service to community members in the future.
Later in February, the chapter held its Annual IRS Day. TEI Executive Director Eli Dicker was the master of ceremonies for this presentation by government representatives and taxpayers. This year the event featured 13 West Coast IRS executives as well as national IRS personnel. The IRS gave taxpayers insight into the new LB&I directive and enforcement process and appeals developments and fielded questions from those in attendance. It was an educational event that the chapter looks forward to next year!
