In late April, more than 100 participants gathered at the Multnomah Athletic Club in Portland, Oregon, for the TEI Portland Chapter’s Annual Tax Conference.
The keynote speaker at the conference was Jon Traub, managing principal of Deloitte’s tax policy group, who provided attendees with insights into tax policy and politics in the nation’s capital. Heather Maloy, Ernst & Young’s U.S. director of tax policy, presented practical advice on how to deal effectively with the new IRS examination approach.
Other speakers at the conference included Aaron Nocjar of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, who delivered a presentation on partnerships in corporate groups; Andy Ruggles of PricewaterhouseCoopers, who spoke on tax technology; and Jennifer Young of Moss Adams, who provided a state tax update.
The conference concluded with a panel including TEI International President Sandy Macfarlane; Mark Caron of PG&E; and Wayne Monfries of Nike, who discussed building the tax department’s business case. The panel was moderated by Kevin Pearson of Stoel Rives.
