As we reach the end of the calendar year, I’m filled with gratitude and optimism. We have just wrapped up our incredible 79th Annual Conference in San Antonio, Texas—what an incredible way to celebrate how far we’ve come as a community and how much TEI continues to grow.
I know all eyes have been on the US election lately, and we are all keenly aware of the impacts it will have on the tax landscape at large. I believe that this network will enable us as professionals to navigate thoughtfully whatever changes come our way.
One of my top goals as international president is to increase TEI’s visibility and the value we offer to our members. I’m excited to announce that we’ve recently interviewed several members, capturing testimonials that highlight their experiences and contributions. These will become available on our website in the coming months. Sharing these narratives not only amplifies our members’ voices but also reflects how remarkable our TEI community truly is. This project is part of a larger effort to help tax professionals—members and nonmembers alike—see the value of being part of this community.
Speaking of growth, I’m proud to highlight that the TEI staff is about to launch a comprehensive publications strategy. This accomplishment is a testament to our commitment to advancing the tax profession, and it’s just one example of the many strides we’ve made together. TEI is a community that moves forward through collaboration and innovation, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved so far.
Another area of progress is the ongoing work of our Women’s Tax Network (WTN). This program, which I’m deeply invested in, addresses the specific challenges that women face in the tax field, providing resources for professional and personal support. We’re taking care to design a program that’s truly meaningful—to support the outstanding women in our profession. Through virtual offerings and targeted support, we aim to uplift and empower women in ways that resonate and have lasting impact.
Our focus on community empowerment also extends to other initiatives, including the Young Tax Network (YTN). Programs like the WTN and YTN are central to TEI’s mission—they provide avenues for members to grow, step up, and support one another. At the Annual Conference, we had the chance to celebrate these networks and connect with members who contribute to them.
Additionally, I want to share that TEI’s commitment to international support is stronger than ever. In my recent travels to the Middle East and Asia, I saw firsthand the dedication and enthusiasm of our international members. These visits reinforced my belief that TEI’s global community is a vital part of our success, and I’m committed to ensuring that our support reaches every corner of our network.
As we approach the December holiday season, I wish each of you a warm year’s end. May it be a time of reflection, gratitude, and connection. Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to TEI’s mission and for making this organization a place where we can all grow together.
Sincerely,
Josie Scalia
TEI International President
