We are happy to welcome you back in person to The Tax Executives Institute – New York Chapter sponsored conference with the IRS to bring you LB&I Northeastern Compliance Area updates on a variety of topics. (As this is in person only, please review the COVID protocols detailed below).

Among the highlights of this year’s conference:

LB&I Examination Update: Holly O. Paz, LB&I Deputy Commissioner, Nancy Wiltshire, Director of NECPA, John C. Hughes, Director of Field Office Operations Mid-Atlantic and Deborah Mullen, Acting Director Field Operations North America will provide LB&I Examination Process Updates.

International Tax Update – Orrin Byrd, Director Field Office Operations will part of a panel discussing numerous International tax issues.

Global Tax Issues Update: Deborah T. Palacheck, Director Withholding, Exchange and International Individual Compliance (WEIIC) and Kimberly A. Schoenbacher, Director Field Operations Foreign Payments Practice and Automatic Exchange will be part of a panel discussion on global tax issues including Withholding and International Compliance and an Update on Compliance Initiatives

Appeals Updates – Darlena L. Billops-Hill, Director, Examination Appeals and Reinhard Schmuck, Program Manager – Appeals Office will speak on a panel discussing the latest developments in Appeals

Office of Chief Counsel – Marc Caine, Associate Area Counsel will discuss recent Court decisions as well as other issues impacting the role of Chief Counsel’s office

The Conference also allows for numerous opportunities for networking and one-on-one interaction during breakfast, coffee breaks and lunch.

The conference will be held at the Ted Weiss Federal Building, 290 Broadway, 30th floor. Please see the note below regarding COVID-19 Precautions. Space is very limited in the facility and consequently, registration will be on a first come, first served basis. I urge you to mark your calendar and plan to attend this event. The cost of the conference is $150 per registration. Credit card payments can only be made online. Cash and checks can be paid at the door. All refunds are subject to an administrative charge of $11 as Eventbrite’s fees are non refundable. All refund requests should be sent to jwindtax@gmail.com.

COVID-19 Precautions:

LBI and TEI are pleased to welcome the tax professional community back to in-person events. Our top priority remains the health and safety of our attendees, speakers, and staff. By observing COVID-19 safety guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we believe that we can foster a safe, welcoming environment for our communities to share the experiences they rely on TEI to provide.

All conference attendees should present a completed Certification of Vaccination form: “>”>“>https://www.saferfederalworkforce.gov/downloads/CertificationVaccinationPRAv7.pdf (follow link)to the security officer as a condition of entry to the building. Security officers will admit visitors to the building after being presented with the Certification of Vaccination form. Security officers will not collect a visitor’s Certification of Vaccination form. Please read the attached form closely as additional documentation may be required based upon how you complete the form.

Participants cannot attend the event if they are feeling unwell, have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 within seven days leading up to the event, or have displayed COVID-19 symptoms within 48 hours preceding the event. These symptoms may include fever or chills, coughing, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea. If you cannot attend the event for any of these reasons, TEI’s staff will work with you to transfer your registration to the following year’s event or provide a full refund, at the attendee’s choice. If an attendee becomes unwell during an event, he or she should not reenter the event space, but rather should immediately inform a TEI staff member via telephone or email, and we will work with the building staff to isolate the individual and seek medical attention as needed.
